How To Hide A Hard Disk Partition Without Any Software? Just Using Command Prompt only.

Many of us having many local drive partitions in our PC. There are lot of valuable and important data in those drives.   So, in many case we want to hide some data from others to

avoid unwanted access.

     In that case, it will not provide more security to hide a folder. Any one can easily view those hidden folders. So, it would be better to hide an entire hard disk partition from others to get a better security. Yes, this is possible in all versions of Windows.

     There are many third party tools are there in net to hide a partition. But, Windows have a powerful option to hide a partition rather than any other tools. We just use command prompt (DOS) to perform this operation. Just do the following steps…

1. Open the Run box by typing Winkey + R or Start->Run
2. Type “cmd” in the Run box. (Without quotes)
3. The command prompt will be open. Then type “diskpart” and hit Enter. (Without quotes)
4. Then type “list volume”. (Without quotes) Now, it will display all the disk partitions of your PC. (See below image)
5. Then type the drive letter which you want to hide and hit Enter. (“F” is used in the image) Then the entered volume will be selected.
6. Then type “remove letter f” (Without quotes) and hit Enter. (Replace “f” with your drive letter)
7. That’s it, you have done, your partition was hidden. Then just restart your system once to better performance.

How to unhide the drive again?

     OK. The drive was hidden. Then all of you ask me that how to get my partition back? This is similar to the hide process. Just follow the steps…

1. Open the Run box by typing Winkey + R or Start->Run
2. Type “cmd” in the Run box. (Without quotes)
3. The command prompt will be open. Then type “diskpart” and hit Enter. (Without quotes)
4. Then type “list volume”. (Without quotes) Now, it will display all the disk partitions of your PC. (See below image)
5. Then type the drive number which you want to unhide and hit Enter. (“4” is used in the image) Then the entered volume will be selected.
6. Then type “assign letter f” (Without quotes) and hit Enter. (Replace “f” with your drive letter)
7. That’s it, you have done, your partition will be back. Then just restart your system once to better performance.

Type in the below command into the Command prompt to copy the sethc.exe

copy c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe c:\

Here we will be backing up the original sethc.exe which is the shiftkey application that pops up whenever you press shift key 5 times. Instead of this app to pop up we want the command prompt to pop up    

Now type the following command to copy the cmd.exe over the top of sethc.exe

copy c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe

Then Reboot the PC normal to reset the password

After the Pc boots Up to login Screen Hit shift key 5 times to bring up the command prompt

To reset the Password Just type the following command

net user Jehns then newpassword

Where by "Jehns" is the current user name and "thenewpassword" is the password you would like to log with
Close the Command prompt then Log in with your new password

You Can even do This when you are using the administrators password and you are afraid to log off because you dont have the password and wont be able to log in again ..
Type the below commands
Click Start type cmd then right click and run as administrator

type net user Jehns thenewpassowrd in the command prompt and Click Enter

change "jehns" and "thenewpassword" as instructed above and there you will have the new password without knowing the current password of the computer

How To Remove Shortcut Virus From Pen drive/Memory Card Simply Without Antivirus.

Many of us had and having this problem. We have some most important data in our  pen drives,  what  will we  do  if all  the  data are loss?  At  some day, all  the  folders which are in

our drive is just showing as shortcuts in Windows (as shown in the above figure).

     This problem may cause not only in pen drives, also in memory sticks, phone memories, external hard disks etc. If we trying to open those folders Windows will show an error that “Shortcut missing…!” We afraid of losing our data and somebody format the drive. But no need to afraid for this and format. Yes, this is a type of virus affection. Just follow the simple steps to remove that shortcuts and retrieve your folders back.

NOTE:No need of any antivirus software to perform this operation.

1. After plug in your virus affected drive, just press Win key + R to open Run box and type “cmd” and press Enter key. (Without double quotes)
2. In the opened command prompt, open your drive by enter your drive letter as shown in the below figure. For example, if your drive letter is enter g: and press Enter. (To find your drive letter just open “My Computer” and check your drive icon)
3. Now type “del *.lnk” and hit Enter.(without double quotes)
4. Finally type the below command and hit Enter. (without double quotes)

“attrib -s -r -h *.* /s /d /l”
